FRESHRADIOVYBZ – Rachel Ritfeld was born in Suriname, South America and is of mixed Indian and Black Caribbean heritage. She moved to Belgium at age 10 with her mother who worked for the Surinamese Embassy in Brussels. It was here, that a model scout who signed her at age 15, scouted Rachel on the streets of Brussels. Rachel was instantly in love with the catwalk.
Keen to get an education, she moved to Brighton in England at age 17 to go to University where she majored in Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex. Throughout university, she went up and down to London for model bookings but it wasn’t until she graduated at age 20, that she decided to pursue a full time career in fashion and entertainment business.
“After studying I just wanted to travel the world and then I booked a job in Jamaica, followed by one in Antigua, then Ghana … I soon realized that modeling was the path to travel”
Rachel was fast becoming an “it- girl” in London after appearing in a few popular TV shows on MTV and Channel 4. And in 2007 Fashion TV named her one of the hottest models in the world at the model awards in Cannes, France.
Rachel has strong moral and ethical values and has been a spokeswoman for various charities, including the African Caribbean Leukemia Trust.
